NFL, You Can Go Suck It Now

So, apparently the NFL is attempting to trademark the phrase "The Big Game."

Why? Because of all those people who avoid getting in the "official sponsor of the Super Bowl" bidding by using the phrase the "Big Game."

Unfortunately, the NFL doesn't realize it is retarded -- the phrase clearly applies to hundreds of different high school and college events, as well as ... um ... the Big Game. (Based on my informal trademark test of searching Google for the first Wikipedia entry, we win. Though the official Super Bowl site manages to be the first link. Damn Google!)

Someone is going to owe the NFL a lot of money. And one fuckin' rad Delorean.

The fact the the NFL has the gall to consider this nicely summarizes two things that I base my life around arguing: (a) Intellectual property in its current state blows, and (b) the NFL blows harder.

My gut reaction is to blame Buddy Teevens. He didn't diminish the quality of the Big Game to this point, did he?

No more than Holmoe did.

Of course, those two are essentially moot, as JT has brought enough light to illuminate even a horribly lopsided Big Game.  Much more than old Ty ever did.

Go Bears!
